We finally got some rain. If you read my story Life on a Water Well you'll know what it's like to have the well run dry. We prayed for rain and we finally got what we wanted. Too bad it came with some unexpected and unwanted side effects.
There was thunder and lightening and heavy rain. The storm lasted about an hour. Not nearly enough rain to do much for the well. The trees and vegetation will suck up most of that rain and very little will end up in the well.
Then, there was the lightening strike. The power flickered and went out for a second. The modem when crazy. The modem got zapped. The modem is dead. No more internet. All we wanted was rain. What's that saying…”Be careful what you wish for.”
We had been having problems with a hijacker stealing our wireless signal. Before the rain came we went to town and bought a couple of Ethernet cables. After drilling holes and running the cables and getting the computers hooked up the rain came. No more hijacker, no more modem. It just doesn't seem fair.
I was right in the middle of one of my favorite addictions, playing netwinner! I had just logged in and did my first spin when the lightening struck. Now we have to wait for a new modem to be mailed out.
No internet for a few days. That is going to drive me crazy. No email or games or keeping in touch with friends and family. I guess life goes on.
In the future I think I'll be a little more cautious about what I wish and pray for.
