Moving from a crazy city back to the middle of no where ain’t no fun.
I have always lived in small towns. My dad was in the RAF before he quit and we were often moving from place to place around the country. This didn’t bother me really, and a few years back (10 now) we moved into the place we’re in now. He quit the RAF, and we haven’t moved since.
I have recently just moved back here from being away for 3 years. 3 years spent in a city whilst studying at University. Now that my studies have finished I have had to move back here. I was looking forward to some aspects of moving back, but then again, I didn’t want to move back home. I had just spent 3 years on my own, living for myself.
I thought I had grown up when I was at Uni, matured if you will, and now I had to move back in with my parents like a child.
I hate this town. There are no jobs what so ever. I have spent nearly 3 months trying to find work, but there is knob all around here. I have been to the job centre, handed out CVs to pretty much every place in town (except charity shops as they want volunteers and I want paying).
A lot of the people here are scum. No doubt this will be being read in the US. Across the pond we have a “class” of people called Chavs. And believe me, they are disgusting. The average age of the kids around here is 13 and all they do is go and vandalize things and be general pains in the ass all day, every day. I have started thinking, however, that it isn’t entirely their fault. There is absolutely nothing to do in this town apart from go to the 20 antique shops or the 10 grotty pubs.
I have got to get out of this hole.
When I was at Uni I was looking forward to coming back because I knew I would have to go cold turkey on sweet Mary Jane. I wanted to give it up and I knew full well I would have to when I got back as I don’t have any connections around here. I have been clean for months and am now craving it either just for something to do, or help me forget about this shit-box town; a town that is only 6 miles away from the inbreeding capital of the country. This would explain why so many people around here look the way they do (I wasn’t born around here so im ok).
There are 2 hotels here, but ive never seen anyone that looks like a tourist around here. But a word of advice, if you’re looking for a fun, relaxing holiday, please don’t come here. You will regret it for a long, long time.
I just wish I could find a job so I can save up and move out of this town called Horncastle.
