As you can see, Elwood is dark and hairless besides a Mohawk of white fur on his head and his two very appropriate nicknames are "Yoda" and "E.T". "I think he's the cutest thing that ever lived", said Elwood's owner, Karen Quigley .
Elwood competed for the second year at the annual ugly dog contest at the Marin-Sonoma County Fair, winning second. The majority of the ugly mutts were also Chinese Crested, a breed with the same features, a Mohawk, huge eyes and a long tongue.
Elwood was rescued by Quigley in 2005. "The breeder was going to euthanize him because she thought he was too ugly to sell," she said, "So ha ha, now Elwood's all over the Internet and people love him and adore him."
