A long time ago there lived a little dog and his name was Max. He was born on March 13, 2006. His mother was named Lady and his dad was named Jake. He was a very sick little puppy and he almost died but he was a tough little lad.
He grew up in a house where two people loved him very much and he loved them too. They gave him great food and a warm place to live. They took him where ever they went. He had the best life a dog could have. Then one day they left the door open and weren’t paying any attention to Max. He was very curious for he was still a puppy. He stepped outside and saw all the grass and trees and liked the way it smelled. Well he wanted to know what was beyond the trees so he wandered off. His owners noticed that he was gone and were very worried about him.
They called the police and told them that he had run off. Meanwhile Max was having so much fun he was running through the grass and chasing butterflies not even realizing that he was getting futher and further from home. It was starting to get a little dark and Max realized that he was getting a little hungry. He looked around for the house and noticed that all he could see were trees. He thought that maybe if he just went back the way he came that he could find the house. Well then it dawned on him that he coulded remember the way he had come. He thought for sure that his owners would be looking for him and would find him soon. So he found some berries on the ground and ate them. Then he started to get sleepy and found a little hole and curled up and went to sleep. His owners were frantic about finding Max. They got together a search party and went out to look for him. They knew that he couldn’t have gotten far for he was just a little puppy. They looked high and low but Max was nowhere to be seen.
They walked right past where he was laying asleep but he was in a hole so they never saw him. Max started to wake up to the shouts and screams when he heard someone walk by. He looked up and there were his owners walking right past him. He didn’t understand why they didn’t stop and get him he was laying right there. So he got out of the hole and started to bark. His owners stopped and turned around and there was their beloved puppy!! They carried him home and he never went outside unless his owners were with him and they lived happily ever after.
