Any ways, all of you were very much a part of his little life, which in my opinion was far too short.
I will now try and get through the closing of this memorial with my special dedication to my precious, my precious, Corky Rose. “The light of my life for a very, very short 11 years”.
I have written a poem entitled:
“Because You Loved Me”….
Because I loved you,
I had to let you go.
You were my reason
For living, as we all know.
The first time we met,
Was really cool.
And if you will forgive me,
An exception to the rule.
You came to me,
A little blast of thunder.
Giving me all your love,
Leaving me in wonder.
I took that beginning,
And, made it mine.
Forever to hold you,
In my heart entwined.
Because you loved me,
I will always sigh…
My precious, my precious,
This is goodbye…
Because I loved you.
Mommy,
By Nancy Kelley for Corky Rose.
P.S. On behalf of Corky we wish to make honorable mention to:
Aunt Linda…(A previous roommate)
Who listened to me when I needed to talk about the way I was neglected and abused by my mom… Well, she did neglect me you know! She just had to clean that damn Cricket's birdcage “every” day. And she would totally ignore me when she did. I really needed some understanding there. And my Aunt Linda understood. She always sympathized with me and told me to just hang in there. My mom would be back in a minute.
And Corky said, don't forget to mention:
Aunt Colleen…(my friend and roommate at that time) who was soooo... special. When I wasn't eating like I should. She would sit on the floor and pretend to eat my "yucky" kidney disease food so I would eat it and stay strong. She would hide treats in her room for me when my mom was neglecting me again with that damn bird! She played chase with me too. She always tried to get my favorite little teddy out of my mouth and stuff like that. She was totally amazing.
Hey Everyone:
I had a really nice life now that I think about it. And some really nice friends, aunts, uncles and of course, the best mommy ever!
Goodbye…until we meet again.
Cornelius “Corky” Rose
P.S.S. Please be nice to my little sister Honey and love her like you did me.
I have asked my dear friend Colleen to help with the placement of the gravestone (Corky Rose Memorial Garden 1996 - 2007) I would like all of you to join in with the contribution of your rose petals. We can all now set the spirit of Corky Rose free forever.
Please feel free to mingle with your friends and help yourself to a beverage and some snacks, which are on the front porch.
And thank you all very much for coming and loving Corky!
