A parakeet is a small household bird. The usual colors are blue, green and yellow. Although they do chirp a lot they can be very enjoyable. If you can train them to whistle and sit on your finger or shoulder they can be very fun. I did have two parakeets, a male yellow, and a female blue. But recently my male died, and my female got very unhappy and, I put a mirror in there and she was happy, just like when she had the male parakeet in there. I do not have mine trained, but she will sit on your hand. And she can whistle with me.
