Small Pets’ Rights

As a pet owners according to some studies you have better psychological well-being, lower blood pressure, lesser health problems to name a few. But have you ever asked yourselves if you have given enough for your pets and if you have not deprived them of their basic needs and rights?

Hamsters, guinea pigs, and rabbits are little creatures that also deserve their own bill of rights for housing, medicines, amusement and privacy.

Hamster's size is usually of six inches in length and ate pre-mixed hamster food, vegetables and cleans water. They last for about two to three years and grumpy during the day and prefer being in the house alone without any other pets. They nip and their gnawing activity at night may disrupt your sound sleep. Cute, tiny like a mouse however furry and without a long tail.

Guinea Pigs' are 10 inches in length and weighs about 2-3 pounds. They usually eat pellets laced with Vitamin-C, hay and clean water. They stay five to seven years and sometimes longer. It interacts with owners but never two males of these pigs in a house; they would end up fighting most of the time. Take care of them as they are prone to injury when dropped. It squeaks and purrs when excited but no fear that they would bite.

Rabbits grow from two pounds to 20 pounds and last five to 12 years depending on its breed. They eat pellets, fresh vegetables, hay and clean water. It grows gentle and tame and attached to its owners. It licks and nuzzles but does not bite and notice its lovely long ears.

Hamsters and best housed in plastic homes especially made for them with secure latches and they are fond of escaping. While the guinea pigs and rabbit can be kept in cages with wide large space.

Privacy

They also should be given ample time and space to live by themselves and not being touched most of the time. They deserved rest and sleep like humans do.

Amusement

Give them something to chew, throw those gnawing blocks and mineral stones. Provide the mice and hamsters pipes and wheels to explore.

Medicines

We tail which is a form of diarrhea is common to hamsters while due to change of weather, rabbits are prone to respiratory illness. While the guinea pigs are very much prone to scurvy due to lack of Vitamin-C. Since these creatures do not produce vitamins on their own, its owners must provide them and bring them to the friendly veterinarian once a while for check up.
