The Alangu breed is bred in South India in the Thanjavur and Tiruchi districts. The Alangu breed is a rather tall breed that has a noble carriage and a short coat. The Kuchi breed is a small dog that has a long coat and is very thinly built. This is a good hunter for vermin.

Back then breeding was about the atmosphere the dog lived in; they were bred to withstand those conditions. Nowadays dogs are bred to be strong and big.
