First we'll talk about some of the positive things of the Pomeranian dog. Pomeranians can be effective watchdogs because of their alert nature. They are frequently on the watch for something to happen, and are usually right there when it happens. For such little dogs they have a loud bark, and are often thought to be larger than their original size.
As one of the most self-governing of the toy breeds, they do not stick to their families or handlers. They are often thought to be distant. They are proud and content dogs when they are with their dear ones, but they can also spend some of the day alone and not cause any damage if trained properly.
This is what makes them excellent companions to older children and to the elderly. They go where they are required, and they are delightful to have around because of their positive nature.
