Follow this simple step by step guide and your dog will be sitting in no time.
- When your dog makes eye contact give him a little treat. This makes him aware you have food.
- To make your dog sit, lift the food up from his nose
- If the dog sits, instantly reward him
- If s/he is confused, lift the treat up again, and squeeze their hind
- Reward instantly when the dog sits
- Repeat until firm
- When your dog is comfortable with this, say strongly, SIT, and make the hand motion
- Eventually phase out the hand so your dog responds to voice command
Tips:
Use small titbits, as to a dog a big treat is the same, little ones often is like money in the bank.
Practise for about 5-10minutes DAILY.
If the dog is getting bored, finish your training session.
Warning:
Your dog may bite your fingers so be careful.
