I eagerly waited for my dog Gypsy to have puppies. I had carefully selected a nice loving family with a healthy and handsome male named Neptune. We had met several times to “mate”, and I knew for sure that my dog was pregnant. As the delivery time approached, I wondered why Gypsy was not gaining weight. I took her to the veterinarian and she had only gained one pound and was due to deliver within a week or two.
My son came home from school soon after and called me at work. He said Gypsy was panting hard and his bed was all wet. She was in labour! I rushed home and 3 hours later, Gypsy delivered ONE beautiful healthy puppy we named Lucky. The next day we took mommy and son to the animal hospital. Lucky weighed exactly one pound, the same amount Gypsy had gained. He was our “Lucky One”. Five years later Mom and Son are bonded forever and we love them both. We could never live without them.
