It takes a lot to take care of a pet like cats and dogs. It also cost a lot of money to pay for every thing that you would need to take care of them. Depending on what pet you get the supplies can be very different.
Dogs
For a dog you would need food for the dog eat and never get low. You would need food and water bowl and collar and leash. Also you need to have tons of patients or you will get flustered. Make sure that you start training your dog to go to the bathroom outside so it doesn't get use to going anywhere in the house and take a pee or crap. You have to wash your dog so that it doesn't get sick and starts making you have to clean their messes. Keeping your dog clean is easy if you have a smaller dog. For a small dog you could wash your dog in the sink. I have a dachshund so I can do that. But if you have a big dog it is a lot harder but all you have to do is go out side and make sure it's not a cold day or your dog could get sick. For the shampoo you could ask a professional or you could just pick up a bottle of dog shampoo. Make sure that you have your dog checked up by a vet at least once or twice a year.
Cats
For a cat it is total different. You still need a collar but if you're not going to need a leash unless you take your cat every where you go or if it is very wild around people. Most likely your cat won't want to go outside especially when it is raining. Instead of training you cat to go to the bathroom outside you should train a cat to go in a litter box unless you want your cat to go do his business out side. It is a lot harder to have your cat washed but you have to do it or eventually it will smell too bad. You still need food and water and food bowls. Cats like to roam around the house but some time cats like to just lunge around and lay their like lazy kids. The more cats you have the harder it would be to take care of them.
Snakes
For snakes you need a good tank to keep the snake in. The tank must have a cover so that the snake can't climb out of it. Of coarse you don't need to wash. Snakes have to eat dead mice but after it starts to grow up it can start eating live mice. You should have a good size tank depending on how big the snake is. I would prefer a corn snake it doesn't get too big and it is very easy to take care of.
