Got a Dog? Get a Cat

If you have a dog you have an eager, consistent exercise partner.

Walking is a fantastic form of exercise. Walking requires a good pair of walking shoes and weather appropriate clothing. In comparison to some other methods of exercise, walking is very inexpensive. Of course, no one should begin any type of exercise routine without making certain with their physician that it is safe for them to do the activity they choose to engage in. Once you confirm that a walking routine is safe for you then enlist the help of your canine companion to ensure that you keep up the routine once you start walking. Dogs quickly learn a routine. They love the time they share with their human companion so you can be sure that they will remind you that it's time for a walk if you forget. Your canine companion, unlike a human exercise partner, won't let a little rain or hot or cold weather deter them from wanting their daily walk. Just be sure to use proper care and caution when temperature is an issue. Consider your health, weight, and physical condition as well as that of your dog when you begin walking. This should be a pleasurable experience for both of you.

So, if you have a dog as a exercise companion why do you need a cat? A cat can be your stress reduction partner. You can learn the art of relaxation from your cat. They demonstrate perfectly the importance and value of a nap. Simply stroking a cat can lower your stress level. Listening to a cat purr and focusing only on that sound can be as relaxing as any meditation routine. A cat expects you to accept it and love it just as it is. Cats usually have no desire to alter their personality to please a human. They teach us by example that we should all be happy with ourselves “in our own fur” and not feel pressured to change for the purpose of satisfying others. You can experience the quiet love of a cat by the way it gently nudges you under your chin or settles softly in your lap.

With a dog as an exercise partner and a cat as a stress reducing partner you should feel energetic, calm, and most definitely loved.
