Four Super Tough, Indestructible Dog Toys

Does your dog destroy all of his toys? This can be hard on the budget. Here are four dog toys that are virtually indestructible.

Does your dog make mincemeat out of his dog toys? Dog toys can be quite expensive which means you need toys that are pet safe and indestructible that will still keep them amused. How do you go about selecting dog toys that will stand up to the strength of a determined canine?

You first should be sure to select a dog toy that's round in shape rather than flat. It's more difficult for a dog to destroy a round toy as opposed to a flat one. The material that the toy is made of is also important. Polyethylene material tends to be quite strong and difficult to destroy even by large, strong dogs such as German shepherds. Here are some specific dog toys that are so tough that they're virtually indestructible:

The Hurley

This dumbbell shaped toy advertises that it's indestructible. It has a clever advertising slogan. “It bounces, it flies, it floats, and best of all, it lasts”. What makes it unique? It's made of a super durable material known as Zogoflex. Dogs also tend to find this toy to be entertaining.

The Mighty Kong

This tough dog toy has been around since the 1970's. It was developed by a German shepherd owner who was concerned because his dog was chewing on rocks. In desperation, his owner who was working under his automobile threw some car parts at his dog. When he threw the suspension belt, his dog eagerly began enthusiastically chewing on it. A light bulb when off in his owner's head and the Mighty Kong was born. After refining the product and making it more durable, this desperate dog owner succeeded in creating an indestructible dog toy in great demand.

Sqwuggies Squeak "nTug Toy

This dog toy has a high frequency squeak that"s designed for a dog's acute hearing. Thus, it won't annoy the ears of humans. It's made of recycled fire hoses so it's designed to be tough. It also floats which makes it a natural for retriever dogs. It will keep dogs amused for hours and is gentle on your budget since your dog can't destroy it.

Large, Hard Polyethylene Balls

These balls tend to be larger than the mouth of your dog which makes it difficult for him to destroy it. Plus, polyethylene is a hard, virtually indestructible material. Dogs seem to enjoy the challenge of trying to conquer this super tough ball. Fortunately, they don't have much success at it. Be sure to select a ball that's larger than your dog's mouth and he should have it around for a long time.

Stop spending a fortune replacing your dog's toys when he destroys them by investing in a few of these tough indestructible dog toys. It'll be gentler on your budget in the long run.

The Hurley is definitely NOT indestructible and neither is the KONG. My German Shepherd chewed through both. The Hurley was "weakened" in a couple of weeks and didn't last a month. Sometimes the Kong toys last up to 3 months. The black Kong toys last longer than the red ones. Most stores do not carry the "King" size which are larger and more difficult to fit in the dog's mouth. I found the King size online and it's lasted over 6 months, but it is my dog's least favorite toy so he doesn't chew on it much.
