The first sign of an upset or depressed dog is that it sits in the same spot over and over again everyday until you do something with it. to find out if this is a depression state walk near your dog and lie down. if your dog walks over to you and licks you, lies with you, etc. it is not depression and is just lazy or tired (dogs sleep to :p)
Secondly if you feel you're dog is not being active enough you can take him/her for a walk, it is best not to stick to the same path every walk, try to mix it up and tweak it if even just a lil bit, like take him/her up the street in the morning down in the afternoon. to maximize fun for your dog take him/her around the block in the morning, around the block beside you at lunch and around both at dinnertime.
Call your dog, if she/him doesn't respond, take some ham, turkey, chicken etc. whatever you have and put it down on the floor, call your dog again, if he/her doesn't respond again it is probably stuck in a room somewhere with the door shut or is sick, if the dog comes and eats the food, pet them and stop when they are done eating. If they go back to where they were sitting and/or doing anything except playing with his/her toys then they are depressed.
If your dog is always lying down a way to get him moving again is to get a stuffed animal and put in front of him. Get him to bite it and then pull it away gently, if he comes after it then he is happy, if he doesn't try step #5.
Go up to your dog with a big blanket and tickle him/her. Pet your dog and quickly put the blanket on in front of him/her. Move around inside the blanket and move toward your dog. It should try to get you out by pulling on the blanket. If it does so it is happy. If not it is depressed.
Erm, could I suggest getting an editor for this article? I tried to read it but couldn't get past all the grammatical and spelling errors. I mean, please. There are mistakes in there that you should have learned about in the third grade. "She/him"? "You're" dog? And don't even get me started on "to/too/two." You should really check these things over before publishing them in the public domain.
