German Shepherds

I’m sure your thinking, “What! I’ve heard stories about German shepherds turning on their owner!!” (and other things). I’ve heard those stories too but the causes of most of the attacks are poor breeding, handling & training. German shepherds love to be close to their families, but they are very wary of strangers.
A well bred, well-adjusted & trained dog is for the most part generally good with other pets and great with children in the family. These dogs have a very strong protective instinct, so they should be extensively socialized to prevent over-guarding when they are adults. To be successful pets, German shepherds should be trained and socialized from an early age with a firm and loving hand. Coercive or angry training does not succeed well with these dogs.
American Eskimo

The American Eskimo is an affectionate and loving dog. These dogs are highly intelligent and easy to train. American Eskimos are always willing to please. Some individual dogs have a willful streak, but most like to work. They are naturally wary of strangers, but once introduced, they become instant friends. This breed needs attention and loves to bark. American Eskimos should be thoroughly socialized when young to avoid potential aggression-related accidents.
Golden Retriever

Golden Retrievers are lovable, well-mannered and intelligent dogs. They are easily trained, always patient and gentle with children. They’re active, loving and an outstanding family dog. Golden Retrievers enjoy pleasing their masters, so obedience training can be fun. Friendly with everyone, including other dogs, the Golden Retriever has very little, if any, guarding instincts. While unlikely to attack, Golden Retrievers make good watchdogs, loudly signaling a stranger's approach.
Collies

Collies are noble, highly intelligent dogs. They’re usually good with other pets and friendly with other dogs. They are also very devoted to and protective of their loved ones. Collies are an excellent children's companion, playful and gentle, but with some exceptions. They can be willful and must be trained gently or they will refuse to cooperate. Collies are good-natured, friendly, dogs. They are very energetic outdoors. They can be wary of strangers, stubborn and indolent. Collies have a fairly good sense of protectiveness for their master, especially for children. They are not aggressive, but they do tend to be suspicious of people they do not like.
Standard Poodle

The Standard Poodle is proud, elegant, dignified and good-natured. These dogs are highly intelligent and one of the most trainable breeds. The Standard Poodle needs to be with people and they dislike being alone. For the most part they are generally friendly toward strangers, and are excellent with children. The Standard Poodle is good with other dogs. Some Standards are good guard dogs and some can be trained as hunters.
