Many people don't know just how fatal some seemingly innocent food can be for dogs.
- Chocolate: This food is dangerous to dogs because it contains the chemical theobromine. Just 3 ounces of dark can induce vomiting on a 50 pound dog.
- Coffee: The caffeine can raise a dog's heart rate and induce seizures.
- Alcohol: Depresses brain function and can bring on a coma.
- Onion: Onions damage a dog's haemoglobin and will continue to over time. This means that small portions over time may be worse than just your dog eating a whole bulb on the spot.
- Garlic: Breaks down a canine's red blood cells which may lead to possible kidney failure due to leaking haemoglobin or anemia.
- Macadamia Nuts: Scientists and experts are still trying to determine why just a few nuts can lead to tremors or even temporary paralysis in a dog's hind legs.
- Grapes: Scientists are still trying to discover why these can cause renal failures in dogs.
