Having been employed in the security field specifically the patrol division for Eight years I have seen many creatures throughout the late night and early morning hours of my shift. In the following article I will share some of the sightings I have personally seen and some that have been witness by other officers.
On many nights patrolling the inner city streets of a large metropolitan city I have witnessed the presence of large and small creatures not believed by many to be sharing the same areas as humans do. Most of these creatures are not domesticated and can pose a real threat to humans who might encounter them.
While sitting on a site early one morning in January I heard what could only be identified as hoofs clacking on an asphalt parking area. After visually investigating the immediate area around my location I saw one of the biggest buck deer's I have seen in a long time. What make's this notable was the fact that it was on a medical facility not more than a mile from the center of the city.
On another early morning shift in March I witnessed a brown fox inside the mile square boundaries of the old city limits. Again this was obviously not a tame domestic creature and could be dangerous to humans and the small pets that they own.
Red tail Hawks have been spotted by me on sites that I have worked and It is interesting watching them hunt their pray such as Squirrels and other small creatures. Another officer reported to me that he had witnessed a large feathered creature on an early morning shift on summer day. He stated that the creature must have stood four to four and a half foot tall. He said when he spotted it at the rear of a property that my company provides security for.
He stated that he shined his flashlight at it and the creature turned its head a stared at him for a moment. At this time the creature took to flight and the officer stated it had at least a seven foot wing span. Having done some research on a creature called a thunder bird reported by the early Inca's and Native Americans I personally believe this could explain what the officer seen. Skeletons of these creatures have been documented by science.
There have been a multitude of other creatures seen on the city streets of this large city including Fox's, Skunks, Wolves and the other run of the mill creatures such as possum's and Raccoons.
I have learned from my personal experience with these sightings to be more cautious when letting my pets out at night. You never know what be around the next corner that you turn.
