Parrots and other talking birds have an amazing ability to learn human language. Some are just repeating words but other really seem to know what they are talking about.
African Grey parrots which comes from the rainforest of central and western Africa are one of the most intelligent of bird species. They are well known for their ability to process information given to them (cognitive ability). In other words they don't seem to simply repeat what is said to them without thinking about it.
Many are able to answer questions and follow instructions. This means that their intelligence level is high enough for them to understand phrases and respond appropriately. This video clip shows the amazing versatility of these birds. This little superstar can answer questions and make a variety of animal noises in response to questions.

African greys are known to have the largest vocabularies of all the talking bird species, including myna birds, crows and budgerigars. Famous birds include Alex with a vocabulary of 100, Prudle with 800 words, and the amazing N'Kisi who could say a massive 950 words.
