Please spay and neuter your pets! There are too many unloved, unwanted and uncared for animals and animal shelters across the country are over capacitated and under-funded, while animals in general are not being treated with a shred of dignity or responsibility on our part. If you decide to take an animal in, get it fixed. A litter of kitties or puppies sounds cute, but the reality is often a little less romantic.
Having a pet is like having a child. They need attention, love, care, doctor visits, food and water, shelter, vaccines, and so on. If you have a job or lifestyle which keeps you too busy to give an animal a lot of attention, try something which requires less work. Maybe chia pets are the pets for you. That's ok. Just don't take in an animal which you have no intention of caring or providing for.
My neighbors, who shall remain anonymous for now, leave their dog outside 24/7, tied to a post on the back fence. They then neglect to feed or water the poor thing for days sometimes weeks, leaving her to the dirty rainwater in the bottom of overturned dog bowls. She howls and barks incessantly from thirst, hunger and general neglect and so they therefore finally put a shock collar on her so that she would just shut up her begging for food and water. Now tell me the sense in having a dog that can't bark or reach the house to protect her family.
This cruelty is not as uncommon as you might want to believe. Are you guilty of this or are you aware of it happening near you. Make yourself heard and do something about it. Help spread the word to stop the abuse and to spay and neuter pets. Maybe it will help get you into heaven.
