Basic Dog Training

Tired of your dog jumping up on visitors or your young kids? Hears how you could stop that bad behavior!

What you will need:

  • An open area.
  • A clicker or anything that makes a sound (you may use a whistle).
  • A short hand leash
  • Dog treats, favorite toy will also do fine

Step One:

Put your dog on the short hand leash and lead them to the open area. Then take off the leash and pick up their favorite toy or treat and get their attention before with using the whistle or clicker.

When you have their attention say in a strong voice “Stay” if they go for the treat say ”No” and move away . Repeat in till the dog stops and listens. Then reward. Saying “Good Boy” or with the treat.

Step Two:

After you have that down, now you will do the sit command. Also with this command use the clicker and treat method.

Get your dog to stand in one spot and have the treat or toy in hand and say in a strong voice “Sit” and gently push their bottom down. Then say “Good Boy” and treat. If it doesn't work the first time keep trying, when you train your dog you have to be consistent and confident. Remember be assertive.

Repeat in till they do it by themselves.
