My family and I live out in the country, we really love it. We play outside in warm sunshine, we swim in the clear creek, and we really enjoy our lives out here.
Since we live out in the country and have plenty of room we have lots and lots of animals. Living out in the country can be sad too, this may seem like a strange problem, or maybe you didn't know this could be a problem, but it is a serious issue. People think animals are things that can be literally thrown away, I have seen people throw dogs or cats from a car, or they place them at the end of our driveway. I am sure people have reasons, no matter how twisted it may seem to my family, to just dump of their pets.
When a pet gets dumped here, it stays here. It will have a wonderful and caring family to take care of it.
Here are some of our babies. Some are still with us, some have moved on to heaven, but here is where they got the love and affection they deserved.
Merlin…..someone dropped him off out here, he was really skinny when we got him, now he is filled out and happy. He spends the day roaming the farm and keeping us safe.
Nicholas is a bobtail, tabby cat. As you can see he is big and lazy. He isn't much for an outside cat; he enjoys finding a sunny spot in the house and just chilling out.
We rescued Abby from a not so nice looking pet store. The owner said she was one of four puppies brought in and left, so we paid $20.00 for her and brought her home too.
Petey and Jaq are my two males. They are both lazy and love to cuddle. Jaq (the smaller one) follows Petey everywhere, even outside for a moment in the sun. Jaq was a stray living outside of an industrial plant, his other companion wasn't as lucky as he is; he's the most loving dog.
Lola is the only lab I have left. She is getting up there in age, she still loves to play catch and chase. She catches and you have to chase her to get the ball back.
Simon is the grouchy kitty. He had been thrown out as a kitten, and someone had stuck chewing gum to his ear, and in the heat here in Georgia it had melted and burned him. We brought him home and doctored him up almost 9 years ago. He only comes in to eat and sleep, he loves to be outside.
These are our latest additions. Meet Curly, Georgia, Screech, and Crackers, they are looking for loving homes. If we can't find one, well they will be fixed and live here permanently too.
Mia is the kitten's Momma. She is taking a rest; her kitties take a lot out of her. We didn't get her fixed fast enough.
Finally we have Jewels. Sadly she passed away earlier this year. She is terribly missed. She had the funniest personality. She never really believed she was a dog.
We love all of our pets, and we have a lot of them. If you want to be a pet owner please do research before you get your pet. It takes a lot of time; effort and money to love and take care of them they way they need to be taken care of. All of my pets (with the exception of Mia) have been spayed or neutered. I thought Mia was too young and she got out one night and now we have kittens.
Once you become a pet owner sometimes things happen in life and you can no longer care for your pet, please don't dump them out. It isn't hard to find someone willing to love and take care of a pet. Put an ad in the local paper, post a note on a bulletin board at work, or just ask around there is almost always someone willing to love a pet.
