So a person gets a puppy and brings it home and from almost day one the animal gets abused and when it gets older the dog dies from being physically abused and not taken care of when the owner was in a position where he was able to provide proper care for the pet. What would happen to the owner? Should they treat people who beat their pets or abuse their pets as serious crimes? Some would say no because it was just an animal and that it was not a human being. Others would say that the owner should face charges and be treated as a serious crime because animals are defenseless, at least less defenseless than a human.
An animal can not talk or say stop or pick a place too live, so some people might consider that abuse against an animal is worse than abuse against a person. For example if your spouse abuses you or anything of that nature, there are choices you can make and you can get away from it if you needed too. An animal has too wait until someone notifies the authorities of abuse or anything else. An animal can’t pack up and stay at a friends or family member’s house. An animal has too sit there and deal with it.
