My Own System in the House

It is hard for a neat freak like me to live in a house full of clutter.

I am a homemaker who stay in the house 24/7. I want the house to look good, neat, organize and clean. It helps me relax when our hardwood floor is shiny and when the bathroom smells clean and look clean as well. I won't mind scrubbing all day to make the house look neat in my sight.

I am busy all the time. We have a daughter to take care of all day. She demands a lot of attention which is not limited from a full time like me. I am thankful though that she have her daily nap for two to three hours which give me enough time to do my stuff in the house.

The house will probably have a lot of clutter if I won't spend time to cleaning up. Of course I don't want to spend my whole day cleaning up the whole house. That's why I make a list on what to do everyday and I maintain certain routines every morning I wake up. I may call it my "own system in the house". As soon as I wake up, I will clean the bedroom. When I'm done, I'll pick up my daughter and change her diaper. Put her in her play area for 15 minutes while I am trying to clean up any clutter in the living room and I do it pretty quick. I will check my email for 10 minutes and if I have to reply some mails I leave it behind for later. I pick my daughter from her play area and put her in her high chair. I will give her cheerios while I'm getting her cereal ready and sit with her, say a prayer and enjoy our breakfast meal.

After breakfast, I try to accomplish what I have on my what-to-do-list. The common things I have on my list are:

  1. Give my daughter a bath.
  2. Give myself a bath.
  3. Take our daughter outside at least for 20 minutes.
  4. Clean the bathroom.
  5. Change the beddings on both rooms.
  6. Order photos on line.
  7. Pay the bills on line.
  8. Mail greeting cards to the Philippines.
  9. Cook lunch and dinner.
  10. Bake certain dessert for the week.
  11. Mop the floor.
  12. Clean the windows, etc.

Somebody may think I am crazy with what I have on my list. These are just regular stuff that a homemaker will do in the house, that you won't even need to write it down but having a list like this gives me an idea what to do next and what needs to be done the next day, if I don't accomplish everything today.

Household chores can be done real quick, easy and not stressful when you know what you are doing and when you know when it should be done.
