Some people are good at mornings, some of us are not. Even those of us who are usually good first thing can have periods of time when the last thing we want to do when the alarm clock goes off is get out of our nice warm beds and get on with the day. These tips and tricks may help:
- Have a tidy bedroom.
I know, it’s what your mother always told you, but it really is easier to get up if you know you aren’t going to stand on yesterdays discarded socks or trip over a pile of books and a coffee mug. Even if you are the world's worst housekeeper, spend a couple of minutes straightening the room before bed time and it makes things so much less traumatic in the morning.
- Lay out your clothes the night before.
If you have trouble telling your black trousers from the blue ones in the cold light of dawn, or if you get to work and realize that shirt isn’t quite as clean as you thought when you put it on, consider setting out your clothes before bed. If you want to be really organised, pick 5 outfits over the weekend and hang them up together so you can still have some choice when you get up, but you know all the things you need are ready for you.
- Get up to a good breakfast,
Not everyone likes to eat as soon as they get up, but most of us need at least a cup of something. Whatever works for you, have it ready to go with the minimum of fuss.
Get these three points sorted and you'll be able to fall out of bed, be washed dressed and halfway through your first cuppa before you even realize it, and the day will start on a much calmer note.
