"I Want to Look Like Million Bucks--without Spending That Much!"

Better ways to deal with closet-phobia.

It's Monday morning. You open your closet and re faced with the debris for years of constructing your wardrobe--and you still have "nothing to wear." It's the problem that's been plaguing and puzzling the clothing clueless for years. Quick fix: head to the store, and buy ten outfits that should last you, well, until the next time you're feeling fashionably deprived. There are better ways to deal with closet-phobia.

Ukay Away!

One woman's fashion disaster is another woman's fashion find. Thrift stores, ukay-ukay racks, and garage sales could hold your next knockout knock-off. Baguio is the most famous haven for frugal fashionistas, but smaller surplus stores re opening all over the metro, too. Tag along with Manang next time she goes shopping. No one needs to know you didn't spend a fortune to look so fabulous!

Rags to Riches

Be your own fashion fairy godmother, and re-invent your rags. (And you thought those sewing classes in home economics would never come in handy.) You want designer clothes--so design your own clothes! With a wave of your magic needle, old jeans become comfy cutoffs, old tees become sexy tanks, and that baduy dress your grand-aunt gave you last Christmas becomes this season's sassy skirt. Your new wardrobe is just a few stitches away.

Clean Out Your Closet

There's no best way to arrange your closet as long as everything is in order--by color, by kind (shirts together, pants together) or, if you're a "closet" OC, by sub kind (separating long-sleeved shirts, short-sleeved shirts, peasant tops, capris...). When you can actually see what pieces you already have, you might be less tempted to splurge on another black top.

Choose the Classics

Knowing what you own also helps you shop wisely. Buy clothes that give you a lot of outfit options. Make sure you've got good-quality classics like khakis, white shirts, plain tees, and comfy black shoes that'll take you from school to work to lunching with ladies so you'll always have something to wear.
