How to Balance School and Work

Having trouble going to school and work? Want to learn how to be organized? Then read below to learn how to go to school and work while being organized.

  1. Be organized

Keep school and work things organized. Keep your school and work things separated. Have one section for school and one section for work. Mark schedules and deadlines in your calendar. Start school projects early so you can get a head start. Don't just focus on one subject. Keep your subjects balanced
  2. Get a flexible schedule

Squeeze homework and study time while you're not in class or at work. Create a daily routine, but be prepared to adjust as things come up.
  3. Think straight! Be realistic

There is not enough time for everything so get your schedule straight and don't aim to finish all your tasks in one day. Finishing all your projects and tasks in one day is simply too much. Work on projects and tasks one section at a time so you don't do too much.
  4. Stay motivated

Working and studying at the same time is a hard thing to do, but with determination and effort, almost anything's possible. Find a reason to be working and going to school at the same time. If you have a reasonable answer, go for it. If you don't, you should just stick to something else.
  5. Be stress-free

Stress is an important part of whether you do a good job on a project or not. If you're stressed, you will most likely do bad on projects. If you're calm and stress-free, you should do great.
  6. Don't forget to live life

Take breaks once in a while. Do some exercise. Exercise helps reduce stress. Hang out with friends and watch movies, TV, or just talk to other people.

Tips

  • Get a calendar and get organized.
  • Keep work and school separate. Don't worry about school while you're at work, and don't worry about work while you're at school. Focus on one thing at a time, whether that's work or school.
  • Evaluate yourself from time to time. See how you're doing on handling work and school. If you're doing great, then keep at it. If you're not doing so good, try to improve.
  • Don't stop working! Taking long days off can really affect you. Only stop when something really important to you happens, for example one of your friends died or something like that.
  • Don't stay up late. Getting good nights of sleep really helps you.
