Eight Ways to Control Yourself and Your Time

Do you feel like you're all over the place everyday? Forget certain obligations often? You need to organize your time better.

  1. Make a “Master- To -Do “ sheet.

You are to make a Master list of the items to do during the month, which will include every day activities, current projects and projects for the future. You are to put these items under different categories as your work place, family and personal time. You are to prepare at least three copies of the Planner sheet for all the activities to keep one in your office, second at your home and third your personal copy which can be referred any time and it will take care of all the tasks.
  2. Plan your day from “Daily-To-Do” list.

Daily-to-do diary is to be prepared before going to bed or early in the morning. You are to take care of the priorities of each task. It will be better to reschedule, delegate or even delete the item not required on that day.
  3. Review your plan

If you have prepared the To-do-list in the evening then it must be reviewed in the morning. You are to take care that too much work should not be planned on the day, which is not within your capacity.
  4. Plan for the next day in the evening

If you plan the tasks to be carried out in the next day properly, then plan in the evening to feel more organized and within your control.
  5. Follow your own style of organizing

If you feel that preparing a To-do-list of the activities in the evening does not suit you, then you may adopt the system, which suits you. You can use electronic diary, organizer, day planner, Daily-to-do diary or any other Time Management tools, which gives more satisfaction to you. It will not be possible to remember every thing, so you are to take help of some of the Time Management tool.
  6. Assign deadline to important priorities

You are to fix the time of the activity, which is important and is linked with some other task of the project. Sometimes you can use the calendar or the planning book and write down the deadline of the completion of the task. You are to plan the projects after properly assessing the individual task, which should be measurable and achievable.
  7. Set specific goals.

You are to set goals, which are realistic, easily achievable and give you the purpose and direction. The goal should be specific to know “What do you want to accomplish with this goal”.
  8. Be flexible.

When you are to plan any project may be a small or big one, and then you are to keep in mind and allow some time for the interruptions and distractions. When you feel that interruption will come in the way to complete the task, then plan routine tasks. Always save larger blocks of time for the priorities of important tasks.
