There are various ways to arrange a day of calm for yourself. It's up to you to protect this day and keep it safe from outside intrusions.
- Ideas for your designated day of calm
- Make a special effort to keep your calendar as free of activity as possible. Don't schedule appointments for this day.
- Reduce your personal “to do” list. It's amazing how many things that you think you have to do today can actually wait until tomorrow or even next week.
- Do something special for yourself on this day.
- Use this day to spend extra quality time with your partner, your children or your pet.
- Get up early and enjoy the morning silence.
- For this one day reduce the amount of time you spend on the computer, cell phone, and using various other electronic devices.
- Do not watch television on your day of calm. Go to a park and watch the birds and squirrels. People watching is often more entertaining than watching television.
- Spend time outside in the evening and enjoy a sunset.
- Take a walk.
- Enjoy the luxury of a nap.
A day of calm doesn't have to occur on the weekend. It may be that a “Mulling Monday”, “Techno- free Tuesday“, “Whimsical Wednesday”, “Thrilling Thursday”, or “Freedom Friday” fits better into your schedule. What is important is that you give yourself a designated day of calm each week.
