You Can be a Millionaire in 27 Days

Theoretically speaking, anyone can be a millionaire in 27 days, 27 weeks, 27 months, or 27 years. All you have to do is double your money each day, week, month, or year. Sounds simple enough, doesn't it?

So you don't think those pennies you are making writing on Triond will ever pay off?

In theory you can be a millionaire by starting with one cent and doubling your money for 25 days/ 25/weeks/25/months or 25 years. It is a stretch, but it can be done.

The Math

Day/Week/Month/Year 1- $0.01 (Publish your writing. I made this my first day on Triond).

Day/Week/Month/Year 2-$0.02 (Unplug any electrical cords that are not being used to save electricity costs).

Day/Week/Month/Year 3-$0.04 (Shut down your computer if you are not using it for several hours and save more electricity).

Day/Week/Month/Year 4-$0.08 (Water your lawn every other day during the coolest times of the day to save money on your water bill).

Day/Week/Month/Year 5-$0.16 (Publish your writing. I made this my second day on Triond ).

Day/Week/Month/Year 6-$0.32 (earnings on Triond).

Day/Week/Month/Year 7-$0.64 (Pay $4.10 for a gallon of gas, instead of $4.141/2, on 15 gallons).

Day/Week/Month/Year 8-$1.28 (Walk one mile round trip to do an errand, instead of driving).

Day/Week/Month/Year 9-$2.56 (Buy 24 eggs at a discount warehouse for $4.00, instead of paying $3.28 per dozen in the grocery store).

Day/Week/Month/Year 10-$5.12 (Get rid of cell phone equipment insurance. Even with insurance you will still have to pay $50-$100 dollars for a reconditioned old phone. Add that to the $5 a month you pay for the insurance and it is not worth the cost with a two-year plan- $5 x 24 months =$170 a year for insurance + the cost of the reconditioned junk phone)

Day/Week/Month/Year 11-$10.24 ( Hang 3 loads of laundry, 3 times a week to dry instead of using the dryer-savings of 12 loads a month in the dryer)

Day/Week/Month/Year 12-$20.48 (Look at your cell phone bill. I changed my 2100 minute plan to 1600 minutes and saved $20 a month. Of course I have to watch those minutes-but I can live with it)

Day/Week/Month/Year 13-$40.96 (Sell a story to Helium.com as they pay anywhere from $16-$120 for a story that is purchased by a publisher)

Day/Week/Month/Year 14-$81.92 (I bought a Coach wallet a few months ago and then noticed it went on sale the following week. I went back to the store and told them what happened. They refunded to me the difference that I paid and the sale price. I was credited $90! Most stores will refund any regular items purchased that go on sale within two weeks of purchase with a receipt)

Day/Week/Month/Year 15-$163.84 (Quit the bookstore habit and use your local library I know that can easily spend over a hundred dollars in a bookstore on just one trip!)

Day/Week/Month/Year 16-$327.68 (Make your vacation plans as soon as possible and save money on your entire trip. I recently booked a trip four months in advance and saved $400)

Day/Week/Month/Year 17-$655.36 (State tax refund check).

Day/Week/Month/Year 18-$1310.72 (Give up the gym membership and make an effort to walk, garden, take hikes and get outdoors more frequently. Lead an active lifestyle and incorporate physical exercise in your daily routine. You don't need a gym membership that you never use either).

Day/Week/Month/Year 19-$2621.44 (Federal income tax refund check).

Day/Week/Month/Year 20-$5354.88 (Buy a certified used car and save the money that you would lose driving a new car off the lot and the depreciation)

Day/Week/Month/Year 21-$10,485.76 (You don't need a Mercedes or a Lexus, when you can buy a Honda or a Toyota. The luxury vehicles will cost you on average about $10,000 more for a similar vehicle with fewer perks and a less flashy name).

Day/Week/Month/Year 22-$20,971.52 (Force yourself to save by directly depositing $500 a month in a savings account or money market. In about three years you will have $20,000).

Day/Week/Month/Year 23-$41,943.04 (Send your high school graduate to a state college and not an expensive private university where the costs are over $45,000 a year).

Day/Week/Month/Year 24-$167,772 (Refinance your home loan. A fixed loan of $500, 000 at below 6% can save about $300 a month over fixed rates 10 years ago-for a total savings of over $120,000 for the life of the 30 year loan).

Day/Week/Month/Year -$335,544.32-(Buy gold when the price decreases. Three years ago gold was about $500 an ounce. Today it is almost $900 an ounce. You could have doubled an investment of $150,000 in three years.

Day 26-$671,088.64 (Buy a home or property and earn equity. A home is the best way for a person to acquire long-term wealth. A home purchased in coastal California 15 years ago for $300,000 may easily be worth a million dollars now)

Day 27-$1,342,177.28 (Use your home equity to buy other properties that you can rent now and sell later. Buy property when the market is down, collect rent to make the mortgage and then sell the property when the market is high).

With the right market and careful planning you can be a millionaire. Maybe this is why the richer only get richer. While this plan may seem out of reach for the average person it is worth spending some time coming up with your financial goals for the future.
