As the credit crunch continues to affect our daily lives, credit & mortgages harder to come buy, mortgage companies are increasing their rates and food bills continue to increase.
One section of society that is being hard hit are those who have a gambling problem and this is being made worse by the credit crunch.
If you have a gambling problem follow my 5 steps to freedom from gambling.
- If you have any telephone or online betting accounts you must close them and ask to be self excluded. All bookmakers will allow you to do this.
- You must destroy all your credit cards and transfer any balances to lower rate cards, the same if you have a bank loan. There are some great websites for this Money Supermarket or Money Saving Expert.
- If you have an overdraft facility with your bank get rid of it if you can, you will only be tempted to use it for gambling.
- Once you have a list of your debts you must work out how much you owe and how much you can afford to pay each month. If need be contact your creditors and see if you can work out a payment plan. The Citizen's Advice Bureau can work with you for free to achieve this.
- When you are going out leave your cashline card at home, this will save you from spending/gambling unnecessarily and in the long run it will also save you a huge amount of money.
