Whether you are on a fixed income, work at a job, work at home, or go to school, these money saving tips are meant for you.
First of all, when you get your income, pay yourself first. Even if you put away $5, this is a savings for a rainy day. You never know when the car is going to break down, the bike gets a flat tire, or you want that extra cup of coffee in the a.m. This amount will grow if you do not touch it for a few months, and you do it every payday.
Electricity -- shut the lights off when you are not using them. Electrical appliances still use electricity, if they are plugged in. Just turning something off is not enough, unplug those things that you feel that you can.
Shopping -- Do I really need it? This question should be asked about your purchases. Most times we ask ourselves, do I really want it, never need. A person who specializes in organization for a living, told me for every item that I purchase, I should get rid of something in my closet or jewelry box. It makes you think about that need versus want issue.
Look for sales. If you wait long enough, the item that you want will go on sale. Just be patient.
Grocery store flyers are great advertisements for food sales. Be careful, though, the items that are on sale might be bargains, but the rest of the items in the store might be at a higher price than you normally pay. Don't trade one bargain for a bigger price tag on other items.
Gas - buy gas in the morning. The price usually goes up around 11. The gas expands when it gets into the heat of the day and you do not get a full tank at that time.
Resale - Shop yard sales and consignment shops. These "new to you" items are usually great buys. Take your unused or lightly used things to a consignment shop or yard sale it. You can make some money to reinvest in different items.
Fresh fruits and vegetables - shop the farmer's market if you can. The prices are cheaper and the items are so much fresher. It, also, helps a local to stay in business.
There are so many creative ways to save money, especially if you don't have much to spend in the first place.
Some folks might scoff at people who shop, but bargains can only be found if you seek them out.
