Planning is a financial principle of utmost importance if you want to prosper and build wealth to help fulfill your purpose. You must write down the vision of where you see yourself in one year, five years, and ten years and adapt your budget to aim toward that vision (Proverbs 6:6-8). Remembering your vision and keeping an eye on your budget several months in advance will quickly let you know how much disposable income you'll have available and how much you can afford to spend on purchases within future pay periods (Habakkuk 2:2-3).
You'll be able to control your urge to spend money that you don't have. You'll also be able to plan for future activities and investment goals you want to achieve. A vision and budget are not hard to follow when you stay out of debt as God instructs (2 Timothy 2:4) because as bill entries are eliminated, your disposable income grows enabling you to spend more on the work necessary to fulfill your vision. Over time, each goal that God set will come to pass and He'll give you more to manage for His glory (Proverbs 16:9).
Money managed according to biblical principles blesses you. However, your wallet will contain holes and your life will be filled with embarrassment when you don't have an established ongoing vision that you consult before you make spending decisions (Proverbs 3:5-6).
In order to have a healthy financial life, you must count the cost before you make purchases, so they don't negatively affect your long-term plan (Luke 14:28-29). May God bless you richly as you follow His plan!
