Three Books That Will Change Your Professional Life

This article suggests and describes three books every business professional should read in order to help ensure their success during the difficult economic climate we are currently experiencing.

It seems as though no job is safe from the uncertainty of the current economic climate. Every day new layoffs are announced meaning more people than ever before are competing for the jobs that are still left - the same jobs that you may find yourself looking for one day. Your greatest asset during these times is your own knowledge, skills, ideas, and network. But before you go back to school or attend expensive training or seminars, there are three books that you should read that will transform the way you think about the business world, your role within it, and how to get ahead.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

Author Steven Covey provides a clear pathway to personal and professional success in his groundbreaking book. Dr. Covey leads the reader on a journey through seven steps that build upon one another to ensure a more effective and ultimately happier individual. This book will provide you with the inspiration you need to make positive changes in your life now, and prepare you for the future. The emphasis here is on how to be effective with your time and energy, and what that means to an individual both personally and professionally. The advice is powerful, the anecdotes delightful, and the application invaluable to any individual seeking to have a more fulfilled existence.

Good to Great

The research is in and the world can plainly see what makes great companies great. But you don't need to be CEO to learn from Jim Collins best-selling study. The strategies employed by these top-performing organizations is essential knowledge for the leader of tomorrow. And beyond that, you can apply the findings in this book to make yourself great both in any arena of your life. Start making progress toward greatest today and you'll not only be able to ride out this current economic downtown, but you'll also ensure your future success.

Never Eat Alone: And Other Secrets to Success, One Relationship at a Time

If it isn't already clear to you that company loyalty is a thing of the past, then take note; employee and employer relationships amount to very little anymore. However, the personal relationships you develop while on the job and in your social life are critically important to your ability to advance in your career. It is through people and your personal connections to them, author Keith Farrazie asserts, that you can maximize your success. Farrazie's Never Eat Alone looks at how to make connections to people and why you should work hard to build and maintain those relationships in your day to day life. His highly ethical approach to relationship building as well as relationship leveraging can make navigating your career, as well as social and love life, easier and more productive. You might even ensure your own career security by knowing the right people.

You will gain valuable insight into how to navigate challenges in the business world today, and your life in general, from these three books. Let them shape your strategies for personal success in the face of economic turmoil. Having read and applied this knowledge, you will find that navigating your own career will be easier, the path will be clearer, and the journey will be more rewarding.

I\'ve read the first 2 books and I must say they are very good books. There\'s also this book called \"Success built to last\" and also the prequel to \"Good to great\" called \"Built to last\". Both are pretty good books too. :)

Yet to read the last one though. Will try to find that.

Although I haven't read a self-help book since the quintessential selection Think and Grow Rich, I will read the books based on Winders's review.
