Before the moving men come in, don't forget to take care of these preparations.
Move all the heavy boxes and furniture to the front of your house. When the removal men enter your house they are going to want to put the heavy items in their van first, so it will save them effort and time, and also will mean you can get to your lovely new home quicker and with less fuss.
Put masking tape, newspapers or padding around any difficult turns or passages in your house, as you dont want the removal men accidentally making dents in any door frames or corners of either youre old or new home.
Leave the vacuum-cleaner until last. After all those dirty boots going backwards and forwards, you are going to need to give the floor a quick cleaning.
Hide sexy or naughty items because the last thing you need is a sexy piece of underwear being visible, or a sexy photo falling out of a split box.
Put the kettle on because these men have a hard job to do so you want them fully alert so avoid accidents such as them dropping an item
Write which room you want the box to go to on its top, as this will save you time from instructing the removal people where to go with each box
Hide valuable items as 99% of removal workers are honest, but it just takes one opportunist to see something of value at the top of a box.
Hide embarrassing items and furniture, because your new neighbours will probably be watching and you dont
Make sure you have ALL the keys to the doors of your new place.
Have a quick cup of tea as you have a long day on moving and unpacking.
