In the view of science, the Torah was not written by God or Moses, but by four anonymous authors, around the 8th or 9th century B.C.E. It is the product of human hands, the expression of a primitive society. Rabbis and other do themselves, their congregants, and the Torah itself an injustice when they make of it more than it is.

Was Moses under the influence of psychedelic drugs when he claimed revelations from God? Who cares? In those times, drugs were probably an aid to the maintenance of irrational belief. For today's believers, it's much harder to maintain religious fantasies.
