In a changing world, especially with gas prices, crime is on the rise. Once peaceful neighborhoods are turning into hotspots for criminals, ready to get anything, at the price, of your hard work. One way to make your home more secured is to invest in a home security system. However, me personally, I don't feel like they are all that “secured.” A lot of home security systems, (the average.) will only provide two windows and one door. I don't know about you. But my house has more than two windows and one door, and I could really care less for a monthly fee.
Another way, you could try putting a fence around your house. This might be a good bit of money. Than again, it is a set price. A fence will provide more than just defense against criminals. It will also serve as an area for your child to be able to play, without the worry of straying away. You can also use this for an area to, drop a dog in. A fence, a dog, and a house in the middle… a lot of criminals are somewhat lazy. Hence, if they weren't, they would have a job, instead of robbing homes.
You might want to also invest in some outside security-motion-lights and possibly some security cameras, that recorder. I would suggest putting the recording VCR in an area that is not easily found and secured in a locking box, bolted down. If you can't afford real cameras, I would point you in the direction of putting up fake cameras. However, I have worked in the security field for several years. I could pick out a dummy camera with easy. Than again, most criminals cant.
Under you windows you might want you plant thorn bushes/plants. With all this security, I would say, 99.9% of thief's would simply move on, to a lesser protected home. Keep in mind a thief is lazy, they don't want to go through to much trouble.
