It is a combination of ingredients and how they are added together and in what order they are mixed. Creating a ‘happy’ home can take many forms depending on the desired results. It is infinitely creative and inspiring; it could be easy on the pocket or extremely lavish, it is dependent on the limitations and boundaries you have, be it money or time or a combination of these.
One of my favorite rooms in the house is the kitchen and if you have children, it is undoubtedly the busiest. I enjoy teaching children to cook simple meals and treats. The successes and triumphs can truly inspire them to excel in other areas of their lives. It encourages confidence and teaches them mathematics in such a simple practical way. Mathematics is everywhere, especially here in the kitchen, measurement, weight, area, time and heat, its all here. The chemistry that is involved in mixing a chocolate brownie and the taste sensations when you eat it is very satisfying. This room is also the messiest, after cooking, the cleaning can be a bit tiresome and mundane but here is another opportunity to teach health basics or science. Children never tire of learning and all you have to do is make it interesting or bribe them with a piece of that chocolate brownie!
These little things can inspire anyone to be, who they want to be and bring out the best in themselves. There is a saying that I came across but I don’t know who wrote it that goes: ‘ A house is made by hands but a home is made by hearts.’ I couldn’t have said that better myself.
I really think my home is my castle no matter the size.
Great article, thanks
