Uses for Hydrogen Peroxide

Hydrogen Peroxide is for more than just cuts and scrapes. Here are twelve great uses for 3% hydrogen peroxide.

  1. Germs and bacteria easily collect on a toothbrush, to keep your toothbrush clean, soak it in hydrogen peroxide 3% inbetween brushes.
  2. For those who do not like to use bleach on their clothes, add six to eight ounces of 3% hydrogen peroxide to your wash.
  3. Add a little peroxide to your rag when you wipe down your counters and appliances. The peroxide will leave a nice smell and kill the germs.
  4. Cleaning a wooden cutting board with soap and water doesn't always get it all the way clean. Pour some peroxide on the cutting board, after it is rinced to kill bacteria, such as salmonella.
  5. Want to whiten your teeth, without having to spend a lot of money? Mix one cap full of 3% hydrogen peroxide and one cap full of water together, hold in mouth for about ten minutes, then spit it out. Do this around three or four times a week.
  6. Here is an inexpensive way to bleach your hair. Spray of 50/50 solution of water and peroxide onto wet hair and comb it through. You will natural looking highlights, for almost no cost at all.
  7. To get blood out of clothing, pour peroxide right onto the spot and let it sit for a minute, then rub together and rinse with cold water, repeat if required. Remember hydrogen peroxide is a bleach, so don't use on colors.
  8. The clean vegetables, wash or soak them in cold water mixed with some 3% hydrogen peroxide and a little salt, then rinse with cold water. This will kill bacteria and prolong freshness.
  9. The get rid of mildew in the shower, pour peroxide directly on the problem spot. Let it sit a minute and wipe it clean. Keep a spray bottly handy with peroxide in it and spray down the shower after each use to get rid of germs.
  10. Peroxide is also good in the garden. Adding peroxide to plants provides them with extra oxygen.
  11. To help breakdown earwax and get rid of, or prevent ear infections, put some 3% hydrogen peroxide in your ears, for a few minutes.
  12. Out of deodorant? Use hydrogen peroxide, it is not an antiperspirant but it does kill germs, and the germs are the main cause of body odor when we sweat. By killing the germs, the odor can be reduced.
