In a very busy world filled with schedules and never ending to do lists, housework is generally at the top of the list of things to do. In a big household like mine, dishes pile up quickly and toys seep out of every corner. Wouldn’t it be nice to take one everyday chore and make it our moment of calm? How can I take this messy house and make it into a moment to relax? There are many things you can incorporate into your household chores in order to help you to relax beginning with a very well known comment.
Share the load of household chores with the family. Eliminate the pressure to get everything done with everyone pitching in to help. At the same time you are helping to make even the youngest children feel needed around the house. It’s also good for the family to learn to work together. One way to get everyone to help is teaching them to stay a step ahead with you. Making the bed when you get up, putting the dishes in the dishwasher after the meal, and discarding unnecessary mail when you come in the door.
Next, pick the chore that brings you the most satisfaction and adapt it. Start with upgrading your tools. Spend the extra money and get yourself a good vacuum or iron. Then pick one cleaning product with multiple uses rather than a closet full of cleaning products. I always suggest you use vinegar to clean with rather than all the chemical filled expensive products. Another suggestion is cleaning products with mood-boosting essential oils to help boost your mood.
Creating a good environment to clean in always has sound. Whether you pick the fan, dryer, or maybe some music you like, background noise will help relax you. Music is known to have an effect on your mood from people who play hard metal when their angry to classical to calm them down. Also, remember to breathe. Take a few deep breaths before you begin and exhale the stress you are feeling. This will relieve the tension you feel. Feel free to repeat this as often as necessary.
Don’t worry about scrubbing everything down every day. There isn’t a need to be spotless. People are generally more comfortable in a house which is clean but still looks like it is lived in. They don’t want to worry about making it dirty. Plus you will be more comfortable and less stressed about trying to keep up with the spotless idea. A cleaning schedule is the best way to go. You can choose to cleaning three times a week is only once every two or three days. You can also put only one or two tasks per day. Then when you start the day you know the only thing you are doing is mopping floors. Once you get it done then you’re done for the day.
These few extra tips are the first step into creating a relaxing moment out of our household tasks instead of a dreadful event of daily life. Cleaning to your favorite music while using products that boost your mood sounds like a great start to completing your tasks. Remember when your finished to be thankful for clothes to wash and dishes that where just clean for the tasks that will now help you to relax.
