I have quite a few friends that don't know how to do laundry much less have it clean. Many families have a lot of tasks and home life can get a little crazy. It's even harder to have clean clothes when you have children. It really can make you mad when you work on laundry all day only to find out that the clothes have a bad odor or no odor at all. Here's a few tips I've learned over the years.
- First get all your laundry in one huge pile.
- Separate three piles; whites, darks, and lights.
- Before filling the washer with clothes let the water and detergent mix first. I usually use a little more detergent than the instructions call for. I recommend Gain or Tide in either powder or liquid.
- Once the detergent is in put about two tablespoons of baking soda in. Baking soda cost about a dollar a box and the local drug store. Good investment for your dollar.
- Next, get a hold of some 20 mule team borax. Again this can be bought at the local drug store for a small fee.
- Add a half a cup of borax to the water.
- If your doing a white load add bleach.
- Put the clothes in, but not too many. I've seen many people fill the washer way past it's capabilities. If the washer is too full it won't clean as well. Small loads make for big smells.
- If a towel or piece of clothing look, feel, or smell too dinged, please dispose.
Well, this is the best advice I can give anyone wanting clean fresh laundry.
