Of all the household chores, I think I hate washing floors the most. First, I have to get a bucket of hot water and put some Mr. Clean in it, mix well and make sure there is a healthy supply of suds. Next, I take out my Atlantic bee mop and drop it into the bucket to soften the head. Before I begin, I lift up all my kitchen chairs off the floor and pick up any bags that is lying around. Now I'm ready to go. My kitchen floors get sticky every week. I think it's because I do a lot of stir frying and the oil splatters from the frying plan onto the ceramic floor. By mid-week, there's definitely an oily coating on my floor because my slippers begin to stick. It's probably not good for my carpets that I carry the oil on the sole of my slippers, as I move from room to room.
When I start, I like stick handling the mop, making sure I flood the place. My socks and slippers begin to feel the wetness as the water seeps in. Instead of wearing slippers to wash my floors, I should be wearing reef socks because they are waterproof and gives me better traction on a wet floor. I don't want to slip and break my neck. Before water soaks in to the joists under the flooring, I quickly wipe it up with my bee mop. I give it a quick rinse with fresh water then let it air dry. The floors have to be fully dry before any of the furniture comes down.
After the last straw that broke the camel's back, I finally broke down and ordered a Scooba from our site. A Scooba is a floor washing robot which is programmed to distinguish between carpets, rugs and washable floors. To operate it, you fill up the tank with cleaning solution then you let it go. The Scooba will automatically circle your room, spraying a fine mist of cleaning solution into its brushes. It scrubs the floor then it sucks up the excess water and dirt into its dirty water tank that you discard after it finishes a room. I really like my Scooba because it washes, scrubs and squeegees the floor in one swoop. There's no concern for it when it goes towards my family room where there is carpet. When it hits carpet, it is smart enough to turn off its jets and turn around. I really don't have to watch it anymore, but I do because it is fascinating to watch. I no longer have to lift up the furniture because the Scooba will go beneath the table and around the chairs, washing and cleaning the floors automatically. It saves me time and most importantly, my back. I highly recommend it if you hate washing floors too.
