For anyone who loves a clean house but doesn't like housework or doesn't have the money to afford a cleaning lady here is a practical, proven method to get your house clean in the quickest, most efficient way.
Supplies:
You'll need some kind of tool belt with pockets for rags and loops to hold 2 spray bottles 1 with all-purpose cleaner and 1 for window cleaner. Make sure to tighten caps often, a carry-all for the rest of the cleaning supplies and cleaning cloths.
List of necessary cleaning supplies:
- Small spray bottles with good sprayers
- A toothbrush,
- 1 plastic paint scraper for extra hard messes on floors.
- Scrubby pad cleaning rags or paper towels (I prefer cotton rags)
- All purpose cleaner in one spray bottle (I buy ByPass a biodegradable, non-toxic mixing solution and mix it 1 -10 parts water,)
- A spray bottle with window cleaner in 1 bottle
- Spray bottle of tough job cleaner(I like diluted orange cleaner available almost anywhere,)
-
Baking soda, comet or soft scrub cleanser
- Spray furniture polish and a plastic grocery bag for dirty rags and refuse.
Optional supplies
Vacuum cleaner, broom and mop of choice.
Now to get down to the job. Start in the room you hate the most to clean. After that the job will seem easier.
Do not clean anything unless it's dirty - clean things don't need to be re-cleaned.
Have house picked up first and wastebaskets emptied - messy houses take a lot longer and are not productive.
Work from top to bottom going around the room.
Kitchen
Stand at beginning of counter, look up at ceiling wipe down cobwebs if necessary, then run eyes downward resting on cabinet, spray with all-purpose cleaner and wipe any finger marks or dirt you see, continue down to counter top move everything aside where you are standing, spray and wipe with cleaning cloth and replace any appliances etc. wiping them also, then check lower cabinet to see if it needs any attention if not move to the left or right and continue as you did in the prior spot. Make sure to move your carryall with you.
When you come to the sink (all dishes have already been done and put away) sprinkle cleanser in, wet scrubby and completely clean well, take toothbrush and scrub around faucets, then rinse everything with cold water and wipe faucets and sink dry with clean dry cloth. Go on to the rest of cabinets and counter tops.
When you come to stove spray with cleaner and wipe with cloth if necessary use heavier duty grease removal type cleaner here, open oven door wipe out and clean glass with heavy duty cleaner continue around room.
Refrigerator
Clean the top then wipe down the outside especially the handles, open doors wipe down glass and any spills, move on doing the same with any other appliances.
Now you've come to the table if dirty clean it with applicable cleaner, inspect chair seats and legs cleaning where necessary, continue doing same with any other furniture.
Windows
If there are windows above sink or anywhere else on your journey around the rooms clean them when you come to them using window cleaner and clean cloth.
The kitchen's almost done, all you have to do is clean the floor, sweep or vacuum and if it needs washing, wash it working your way out of room and the room is done!
The Bathroom
Start at the sink/sinks, check the ceiling down to mirror, clean mirror, continue down to sink clean same as kitchen sink, then bottom cabinets, continue to toilet put toilet cleaner in stool and let set while you wipe entire toilet down, wash walls around the toilet, including floor, swish cleaner in bowl and flush go on to bath/shower spray down walls if necessary with all-purpose cleaner, wash bathtub with cleanser, rinse out tub and polish faucets, finish by sweeping and washing floor out of the room.
For the other rooms it's basically the same. In the bedrooms, strip the beds putting the bedclothes to be washed outside the door. Go around the room from top to bottom cleaning what is dirty, dusting, waxing, and cleaning the mirrors. Finish by vacuuming your way out of the room. (I even use a vacuum on hardwood floors in the bedrooms.)
You've gone through all the rooms of the house. The kitchen and bathrooms are sparkling, the living room and bedrooms shine and everything smells clean and looks it.
This seems hard at first as anything is at the beginning but within a short time you'll be breezing through the house and being amazed how much easier it is.
Where do you buy your Bypass cleaner? I\'ve used this product for years and recently ran out and cannot find it any where.
Thanks,
Kat
