How A Builder Makes His Homes in Quebec

Building Homes From A kit

What does one builder use in Quebec. Well they like using steel because it doesn’t warp like wood and there is no waste to deal with. There are Brazilian hard woods available.

The builder I spoke to wanted only indirect lighting incorporated into his houses, no moulding and a reveal around the doors. Dry wall installations sits flush with floor so that they look like they are floating. None of those dust bunnies to accumulate.

The buildings are green, meaning energy efficient with plenty of natural lighting and a minimal heat loss. There is no vapour that gets into the roof, which is installed with screws and not nails. That is because the roof is insulated with blue urethane that is vapour resistant.

Now these homes are being done in the Eastern townships because land is relatively cheap compared to Toronto. Go along highway 10, 15 kms. from Montreal and you can still find an acre of land for a fraction of the price. With the help of a friend, a cottage frame can be set up in two days as if it were from a kit.
