Five Surprising Uses for Toothpaste

Why spend dozens or hundreds of dollars on specialized cleaners when you can just use... toothpaste!

  1. Quick-fix for pimples

Dab a bit of non-gel toothpaste on a whitehead over night. In the morning, the pimple should have decreased both in redness and size. Toothpaste absorbs oil and reduces small amounts of swelling.
  2. Remove stains from skin

Rub a small amount of plain toothpaste onto the stain on your skin; rinse (and repeat, if necessary).
  3. Make your hands smell great

Toothpaste deodorizes whatever you use it on, so it's great for your hands if they have picked up a scent from something you've been cooking or cleaning with.
  4. Keep surfaces from fogging

Rub toothpaste onto a window, goggles, etc. and then wipe off before engaging in any steam-creating activity.
  5. Polish jewelry

Instead of using expensive jewelry cleaner, use toothpaste to make your silver, gold, and diamonds as bright as your smile.

Liane: I've used toothpaste for the odd pimple and also for jewelry polishing; it's worked very well for both. I have not personally tried the other ideas. Let me know what happens when/if you do!

I have used toothpaste for cleaning silverplated items and it works. The pieces should be cleaned often to keep the shine. Thanks you for the other ideas you offered. I also have used toothpaste on my jewelry.
