Common household hints to save time and energy.

Handy Household Hints Every Householder Should Know:

  1. When you sew, the thread wont tangle as easily if you knot both ends separately.
  2. If your child must take a bad tasting medicine, put an ice cube on his tongue for a few seconds to deaden the taste buds.
  3. If you must take a splinter out of a child's finger, hold an ice cube on it for a few seconds to deaden it.
  4. Apply a slice of onion to a bee sting to stop the swelling.
  5. If you have a dog, vacuum him often and you won't have to vacuum the house as much.
  6. When your hands are stained from gardening, add a heaping spoon of sugar to soapy water you wash them in.
  7. Tooth paste is good for cleaning your jewelry.
  8. Your bed linins will always smell good if you store your soap with them.
  9. You can always find your car in a crowded parking lot if you tie a brightly colored scarf to the top of the aerial.
  10. If your quilt or sheet is to short, sew a couple of feet of sateen to the bottom of it.
  11. If your oven catches fire throw in some soda. It will dowse the fire.
  12. If your dark wood furniture gets scratched, rub a walnut meat over it. It will restore the color.
  13. You can remove candle wax from wood with lighter fluid and a soft cloth.
  14. If you tip your clothes hangers sharply up at the ends, your nities, slips and dresses won't slide off.
  15. Add a little oil to your cooking water when you boil spaghetti or macaroni and it won't be so quick to boil over.
  16. Your sewing will never rust if you keep them stuck in a bar of soap in your sewing box.
