Sometimes it seems impossible to find even 10 minutes for cleaning. But it’s not-even in today’s super busy, super stressed world. Here are some ways to make most of your cleaning time by getting creative. You can do it!
Browse books:
Get in the habit of flipping through 10 minute housekeeping books while you relax instead. Haul out the post-its and tag things that you might try the next time you have ten minutes.
Set it to Music:
If you like to listen to music while you work, burn a CD that groups songs into 10-minute "sets" when the 10-minute set ends, you can turn to another task or stop.
Try 10-minute phone calls:
Do two good things at once by calling friends you're out of touch with for a conversation that will last, you got it, 10 minutes. Of course you can clean at the same time because you have invested in a hands free phone. If you are smart, you'll set a kitchen timer for the call, or get your friend to do 10-minute jobs on her end, too.
Photocopy chores for the family:
If other members of the family can read, they can be on this. You can photocopy ten or twenty of the tips that you know will work at your house. Cut them into strips and keep them in a job jar that anyone can access, or make each person their own age- and interest-specific jar.
Aim for 10 minutes of work, 10 minutes of reward:
Motivate your family members of 10 minutes of house jobs daily. You can trade a lot of things for 10 minutes for extra playtime and video games for children etc.
Drop everything and clean:
Every now and again when most everyone's home, insist on “dropping everything to clean,” but only for ten minutes! Do insist that everyone participate and wrap up the session with , say, frozen yogurt or a great video.
