So you need to replace your hot water heater and you are considering a tankless water heater rather than a regular tank water heater.
There are some important considerations to be made before you decide to make the switch. Depending on where you live you may need to think twice.
- Regular water heaters do cost more to operate- or do they. The thermostat is set to a desired temperature on these units and the water heats to that temperature.
- Tankless water heaters only raise the temperature of the incoming water. If your incoming water temp is 60 degrees in the summer you could have some 100 degree water at the tap.
- In the winter - your incoming water temperature is sure to be lower depending on where you live. It could get down to 45 degree or less. Now you will be showering with 85 degree water or cooler.
If you live in Southern California,or somewhere else nice and warm year round a tankless heater may be right for you. In the colder climates though it may not be your best choice.
