Save Water and the Environment

10 simple tips on how to save water and be environmentally friendly.

  1. When you're brushing your teeth, don't leave the tap running all the time
  2. Take showers rather than baths
  3. Sharing the shower saves water too, and it's fun!
  4. Put a house-brick in your cistern. When it refills after a flush, the brick displaces some of the water.
  5. Throw cold tea onto the garden, the plants love it and you won't need to use as much to water them
  6. Don't use the washing machine until you have a full washing load
  7. Let water run into the washing up bowl rather than down the sink, it will warm up and be plenty hot enough to wash the dishes
  8. Get a barrel to collect rainwater for watering the garden
  9. Your hair only needs one wash and rinse with shampoo. Doing it twice is wasting both shampoo and water.
  10. Only fill the kettle with as much water as you need to make a hot drink. It saves on electricity too.

Some of these I knew already, but you listed a couple that I didn't. Good reminders.
