Recycle Things Around Your Home

Things you can recycle around your home.

There are so many things we throw out each day that we could easily recycle in one way or another. There are many ideas of how to make the world a better place by not producing so much waste. Well we can all help reduce waste by recycling many of the little things that lay around our house. Things we never thought of reusing instead of going out and buying something new and better. Why not use what we have instead of throwing it away and causing more waste in our waste dumps. Just making small changes in our lives we can make a big difference in the state the world is in now.

Ladies if you have perfume bottles that you don't use, like there is only a small bit of perfume left and you already bought a new bottle. Instead of throwing the bottle and perfume away. You can spray the perfume on your air conditioner filter. Now anytime you run the air conditioner, your favorite scent would be released through the house. You can also then use the bottle for either a spray bottle to keep cats off furniture or whatever. Or you can fill it with see through gems and set it on the window sill for your own sun catcher that didn't require a lot of time and effort!

Candles. Do you have a candle that is so low it doesn't light anymore? Or the wick fell into the wax and you can't pull it out? Well then take out your scissors and an empty jar (or perfume bottle) and cut up the wax into small pieces. Then put the pieces into the jar and place it on your heater. Now anytime the heater is on and melts the wax, the scent from the wax fills your house for yet another way to add a beautiful scent to your home. You can even hide the jar/bottle so your guests won't know your secret. Being all sneaky sneaky!

Ladies, we all have that bottle of nail polish where we cannot reach the polish in the bottle or eye shadow that is on the sides that we cannot get. We can easily mix the colors to get a new one. Pour some of the nail polish into a bottle of like color like red into pink or mauve into brown, then shake it. You will then come up with a brand new color instead of tossing out that color. You'll have a few more chances of wearing nice nail polish without having to spend more money to buy more. The same with eye shadow. You can get one of those small jars and scrap the colors into it and mix them up to get a new color. I have done it and made wonderful new shadows.

Along those lines are crayons. Do your kids have crayons that are so small it's hard for them to hold on to it? Make a craft out of this for you and your kids one day. Melt the crayons down and then pour them into a mold and let it dry now your kids have new crayons and when they color they could have different colors in one crayon. For example you can melt blues, and greens together so when your kids color they get both in one.

Scrap book lovers here is one for you. Find a button on the floor? Instead of throwing it away, hold on to it and use it in your next scrap book page. Have extra paper from formatting a page? Don't throw it away, hold on it is and use pieces as accents or small parts of it to write little notes. I have used small strips to write notes under photos. I used one to write a note about best friends for my best friend's wedding album I made for her. It contrasted the paper I used and the words just jumped out against the darker page.

Now we all have calenders from the previous year that we don't need anymore. Cut out your favorite pictures and frame them. Then hang them on the wall for an inexpensive way to decorate your walls. Empty bottles around the house? Clean them out and let it air dry. Then use it for to collect change or as a vase. You can paint the bottle and decorate it then place a beautiful flower inside it. I have used old fancy bath oil bottles for vases and I admit old liquor bottles hold my pennies and other change until there is enough to role.

Ladies again we have nylons that have holes in them right? Well we can cut them up and make cute little pouches of poppori in them. Cut off the toe part at the ankle fill with the kind you like then tie with a pretty ribbon. Or at the calf section cut it at a length you like and do the same tie it off at both ends. Then you can put the little pouches in dresser drawers to help make clothes smell better or give them as little gifts at showers.

There are always ways to reuse many of the items you have laying around the house. We don't need to spend all of our money on things that we can easily make ourselves. What are some of your great ideas for reusing things you have laying around the house for a new and different purpose?
